Downers Grove, IL location to Open on February 5
MISSION BBQ has opened its 58th location in Downers Grove, IL on Monday, February 5, 2018. Co-founders, Bill Kraus and Steve Newton will host the Grand Opening celebration that begins at noon. The event starts with the National Anthem performed live by a local Uniformed American Hero. The ribbon cutting ceremony will follow immediately afterwards.
This will be the 1st location in Illinois for the restaurant known for its traditional American BBQ with a hefty side of patriotism. Kraus and Newton achieved the original goal of 40 restaurants two years ahead of schedule in November 2016. The opening of the Downers Grove location is part of MISSION BBQ’s new expansion plans, with a targeted goal of 80 restaurants throughout the Eastern U.S. by the end of 2018.
As is tradition with the opening of every MISSION BBQ, the Downers Grove location will host charity nights throughout the week leading up to the Grand Opening, with all sales donated to organizations chosen by local police and fire departments in the Downers Grove Community, as well as to the USO.

Firefighters Friends and Family Night an invitation only event held on Wednesday, January 31: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. raised $680 for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance
Police Officers Friends and Family Night an invitation only event held on Thursday, February 1: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. raised $977 for the Hundred Club of DuPage County
Military Appreciation Night was open to the public on Friday, February 2: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. raised $2145 for the USO-Illinois
