The DGEDC

The Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation is the official agency for economic development and tourism for the Village of Downers Grove.    Since its founding in 2006, the DGEDC has been the economic engine of Downers Grove.

The DGEDC is a public/private partnership that promotes Downers Grove as a location for commercial, industrial and office projects.  In addition, we promote tourism through the Downers Grove Visitors Bureau.

The success of the DGEDC is due, in no small part, to our Investors, and to the distinguished group of business and civic leaders who serve on our Board of Directors.   The DGEDC has helped establish Downers Grove as one of the premier locations in the Chicago area for corporate and division headquarters.  In addition, the DGEDC has played an important role in the attraction of commercial projects, including anchor retailers and automobile dealerships.

The mission of the DGEDC is to enhance the economic vitality of the Village through the retention, expansion and attraction of business that is conducive to improving the quality of life in Downers Grove.   The objectives of the DGEDC are:

A)   Promote and facilitate business attraction to Downers Grove;

B)    Promote and facilitate the retention and expansion of businesses in Downers Grove;

C)    Promote and facilitate development tools and programs as identified in the Village’s Comprehensive Plan;

D)    Promote and facilitate travel and entertainment spending in Downers Grove with an emphasis on overnight stays;

E)    Cultivate and sustain a labor force for existing and prospective businesses;

F)    Cultivate a diverse local economy.
