DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Just as the days of summer — and the days of seasonal backyard barbecues — are coming to a close, City Barbeque has opened its doors to give Downers Grove residents a taste of home-cooked southern-style barbecue year round. The new restaurant officially opened its doors at 1034 Ogden Monday and welcomed its first diners with T-shirts, gift cards, and a tempting selection of ribs, smoked meats, and other treats.
City Barbeque will host an official grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 18. The family-friendly festivities are slated to include face-painting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., temporary tattoos from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and live music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The restaurant will also be giving away a Yeti cooler and a charcoal grill. Download the City Barbeque app for a shot at these prizes an then host your own barbecue at home.
