One of the state's major health-care systems is relocating its headquarters to Downers Grove this year, officials announced.

Advocate Health Care, a 10-hospital network, is moving its offices from Oak Brook to Downers Grove, about five miles west. The new offices will be situated just a few minutes up the road from Good Samaritan Hospital, long considered a flagship employer in the village.

Downers Grove Mayor Martin Tully unveiled a logo that will be used to promote it’s selection by Forbes Magazine as one of “America’s Friendliest Towns.” Local businesses, civic organizations, and governmental bodies will be encouraged to use the logo. The Village of Downers Grove, the Downers Grove Park District, the Downtown Management Corporation, and the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation, decided to merge their promotional efforts through the design of a common logo.

A new family restaurant has opened its doors in Downers Grove.

The Baked Apple Breakfast Co., 1224 Ogden Ave., opened in mid-December in the space formerly occupied by Dimitri's Pancake House, which closed in October 2011.
